The Planning and Environment Court relies on expert witnesses to help their decision making – including planners, engineers, economists and many others. The aim of this seminar is to inform and educate the audience about how a Planning and Environment Court Appeal is commenced, the rules for experts which guide their role in the process and the process through to decision.

Rachel Jones MPIA - Special Counsel ,Mccullough Robertson
Rachel is a specialist planning and development lawyer focusing on planning and environment litigation, advisory work and compliance.
Known for her outcome focused and lateral thinking approach, she provides frank and practical legal advice tailored to her clients’ needs. Her litigation experience includes involvement in a number of seminal cases in the Planning and Environment Court. She regularly advises on local planning schemes, infrastructure charges and infrastructure agreements, Rachel has a deep understanding of the Planning Act 2016 (Qld) and its related legislation and predecessors.
Rachel acts for a diverse range of clients including private and commercial clients, property developers, submitters and local and state government departments across all facets of planning and environment law.

Paul King - Principal Engineer, MWA Environmental
Paul King is a Principal Engineer with MWA Environmental and holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechnical). Paul is a respected and much sought after expert witness in the Planning and Environment Court, Magistrates Court, Liquor Appeals Tribunal and Land Court.

About the series
The Legal Lunchtime Series will bring together speakers with recognised expertise in various aspects of the Queensland Planning System and provide a platform to educate, inform and provide solutions through short seminars focusing on topics identified by our members.
These sessions will provide the necessary information and practical help for those currently working in the planning profession and looking to improve their understanding of legal issues that impact on town planning in Queensland.

Amy Adamson MPIA - Principal, Meridian Urban
Amy is a statutory planning specialist with over 20 years of experience in various forms of land use planning. She maintains an extensive understanding of the Queensland planning framework and specialises in the interpretation of complex legislative frameworks into practical planning outcomes.
Amy has prepared and managed development applications throughout Queensland. She has advised clients and Government on a number of land use enforcement and compliance matters and has been nominated as a town planning expert in proceedings in the Planning and Environment Court and Land Court.
Amy also provides assistance to Local Governments across Queensland with planning scheme drafting and development assessment, with a particular focus on bushfire. She has also provided development assessment support to State agencies in both planning and bushfire matters.
