PLANET | Securing Social Licence For Planning Projects

 Event Outline

This national course is designed for professionals in all locations.

Gaining a ‘social licence to operate’ is critical for the smooth delivery of planning projects.

This half-day course will focus on the process of developing a place-based community engagement approach to achieving a social licence to operate (SLO) for development, planning and infrastructure projects. Participants will gain practical insights that will help them and their projects to avoid the pitfalls that come with community opposition

Through this course you will learn:

  • the links between lack of SLO and project delays, loss of funding, targeted campaigns, political influence and impact on chosen approval pathway
  • the consequences of proceeding without a SLO
  • an approach to understanding the community and their connection to a project’s footprint
  • the steps to developing a place-based engagement approach that engages communities from the project’s inception
  • the skills to support your conversations with community members and stakeholders.
