This half-day workshop will provide a deeper understanding of what urban designers do. It will provide you with an urban design vocabulary and present urban design as an inclusive and collaborative process while providing practical hands-on exercises and group work.
This workshop will incorporate a practical workshop on the application of site analysis and design response principles for a specific site, providing insights into the key elements that contribute to creating good place outcomes.

- Recognise appropriate and responsible urban design outcomes and contribute to design discussions based on a rational and replicable design methodology;
- Understand the critical role of context and scale in urban design;
- Understand the fundamental language and elements of urban design practice, and formal design principles;

Riki Mey
Riki is an urban designer and architect with dual Master’s degrees in City Planning and Urban Design, and Architecture, completed in South Africa. She integrates her interdisciplinary expertise to deliver creative and practical design outcomes across a range of scales. Her experience spans framework and master plans, precinct strategies, detailed place-making, and architectural projects. Riki has worked across both the private and public sectors and lectures part-time in the Master of Planning/Urban Design programs at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). At UTS, she has played a key role in developing, coordinating, and teaching the studio subjects within the Master of Urban Design program.
