PLANET | Planning for social outcomes

This course is designed for professionals in all locations.

Social planning is an important and sometimes misunderstood element of the planning system. Social planners work across disciplines including open space, housing, urban design, safety and infrastructure to shape social outcomes. In this course you will discover best practice approaches to social planning and understand how you can influence planning processes to deliver social impact for communities.

The course will focus on three key tools of social planning - demographic analysis, social impact assessment and social infrastructure plans - to prepare participants to work as a social planner or alongside social planners. Practical examples will be provided and participants will be given the opportunity to test their social planning skills on real world scenarios.

Participants should leave the course with a deeper understanding of social planning, how planning processes shape social outcomes and how to use the tools of social planning in their work.
