What does it mean for a river to have rights? Led by the Department of Transport and Planning in collaboration with Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung, Bunurong, Wadawurrung and Eastern Maar Peoples. The legal recognition of the Birrarung (Yarra River) is a powerful example of shifting perspectives from managing our managing assets, to genuinely Planning with Country.
PIA Award Winners join us to talk to the Birrarung case; this yarn explores Country as a living entity, our obligations as planners and how we can progressively plan for waterways.
This Yarn is scheduled in AEDT (Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra) time zone.
PIA Allies Community of Practice (CoP) Yarns provide an online, interactive space for planning and built environment professionals to discuss topics on allyship. Launched in 2023, Allies CoP yarns aim to support and guide passionate individuals through the process of understanding, advocating for, and implementing a two-way approach towards better outcomes for community, culture and Country.
